1998
Started in litigation
I started as a law clerk at a Los Angeles litigation firm while I was still in college: research, discovery, briefs, trial prep. I’ve worked on civil cases in this city ever since.
1999
UC Santa Barbara
B.A. in Law and Society. I’d already been clerking for over a year.
2003
Southwestern Law School
J.D. from Southwestern, a mile from my office today. I kept clerking through law school and for a year after.
2004
Admitted in California
Admitted to the California Bar in June 2004, and to the federal courts. I’ve practiced in Los Angeles ever since.
2004 – 2007
The defense side
Three years at a Los Angeles defense firm, representing insurance carriers, public agencies and corporations against injury claims: premises, auto, toxic tort and medical malpractice, in state and federal court.
2007 – 2009
Memphis, and the other side
I moved to Tennessee and did my first work for injured people instead of against them: settling auto, slip and fall and premises claims, and arguing Social Security disability hearings. Admitted to the Tennessee bar in 2008; published in Tennessee Young Lawyer in 2009.
2009 – 2016
Back to the defense side
Seven more years defending insurers and public agencies at four Los Angeles and Orange County firms.
2017 – Now
My own practice
I opened my own practice. Since then I’ve only represented injured people.

For too long I watched insurance companies stonewall claims they knew were legitimate, delaying, denying and nickel-and-diming injured people who deserved better. That convinced me I was on the wrong side. Every case is a person, not a number.
The other side of the table
I know what they’ll try, because I used to do it for them.
On the defense side, my clients included the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. I also defended personal injury claims against entertainer Britney Spears and Southern rapper Yelawolf.

Outside the office
I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, and I have a true and lasting love for the many different people and cultures that make up this great city and state. When I’m not working and fighting for my clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach, swimming, hiking, traveling, playing basketball and golf, and cheering for my favorite Los Angeles teams: the Dodgers, Lakers, Kings and Rams.
